have a toshiba laptop, linksys router (g), and an aircard thru Alltel (mobile usb).
can the router be used with the laptop wirelessly without a modem? or can the aircard(usb) be used as the modem with the router so husband is setup wirelessly at work? do you have to have a modem to use a router?

the aircard is slow, and when using, he cant use his home email (roadrunner) account to SEND OUT emails. He has to use a "public" email address like hotmail.

    any ideas? thanks

Thats maybe because to send emails you need tobe connected to the ISP service - quite normal in UK
Would you explain - you have a Linksys Router but it is not connected to a Service - would explain what you mean further
Some router also are modems - you dont need a modem to use a router to connect PCs together , but you do need a modem to connect to internet service via cable, telephone
