I have 4 computers, 2 mac's, 2 pc's. The actual modem is connected to the iMac, I have a belkin router. I am currently on a laptop (pc), which is connected to our network (that all the other comps. are connected to)

My problem is, that ever since I reformatted my desktop pc, I havent been able to access the internet. I get that "little or no connectivity", even though my signal strength is excellent.

But I am able to access the internet on both wireless laptops (pc& a mac)

here is the laptap I am currently on ipconfig.

    the ipconfig looks wrong

dhcp enabled = an IP address
    did you copy across OK

Also the IP address has 3.1 - your other machines have 2.1

    I would got the desktop
right click on the network connections
    properties
    high light
    TCP/IP
    properties button

then see if the tab has nay IP addres in
    set to
    obtain an IP automatically
    obtain DNS automatically

I suspect you don't have DHCP enabled on the machine in question.

Select Start > Settings > Network Connections.

    • Double-click the Connection icon of the connection you wish to modify to open the Local Area Connection Status window.
    • Click the Properties button to open the Local Area Connection Properties window.
    • Click to highlight Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
    • Click the Properties button to open the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Properties window.
    • TCP/IP Properties window, IP Address tab
    • Select Obtain an IP address automatically.
    • Select Obtain DNS server address automatically.
    • Click OK to return to the Local Area Connection Properties window.
    • Click OK to return to the Network Connections window.

I have done those steps, and still no change in the connectivity. Although I get a yes for dhcp enabled, but I still have no default gateway or primary dns suffix and connection-specific dns suffix

Let's see this for a working computer and the non-working one when connected.

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD to open a command prompt:

In the command prompt window that opens, type type the following command:

Note that there is a space before the /ALL, but there is NOT a space after the / in the following command.

    IPCONFIG /ALL

Right click in the command window and choose Select All, then hit Enter.
Paste the results in a message here.

If you are on a machine with no network connection, use a floppy, USB disk, or a CD-RW disk to transfer a text file with the information to allow pasting it here.

Yes, and then you made changes, I want to see if they were made correctly and what effect they had.
