wmiprvse.exe running high CPU

    Recently upgraded my older HP TC1100 tablet to Service Pack 3 and am noticing the CPU is being hammered by the wmiprvse.exe process, taking it up to 100%.

    I disabled the onboard network adapters and updated and ran the latest Microsoft Security Essentials, Avast and Malwarebytes, with no result.

    I'm unsure if there's a particular service I should be tweaking, or what to try next.
