I am using Windows Vista Home Premium 32 Bit SP1 and McAfee Security Center. McAfee's firewall is turned on, and Windows Firewall is turned off, as Windows claims that it is not a good idea to run multiple firewalls at the same time. I am living in a college dorm. While in my dorm, I access the internet through the Ethernet jack in the wall. I have told Vista that the network is a public network. I have internet access, and when I view the Network, I do not see my computer. However, when I run Windows Media Player 11, my computer becomes visible as a "Media Device" with my computers name, even though I have Meida Sharing in WMP turned off. Is this a security risk? Is there some way to stop this from happening without denying WMP access to the internet so it can automaitcally get track information?
