I have a Dell E521 AMD 64 Athlon x2 that has a DVD/CD RW. Recently the DVD drive quit playing DVDs. It still reads & plays CDs with no problem and will even burn CDs & DVDs without an issue. But no movies will play in the drive at all, although I prefer Windows Media Player, no other program will work either.

Would someone be kind enough to help me figure out this problem?

    Many thanks in advance!

[edit to add: I did a Windows repair and still no luck!]

Ok...to add to the information provided already, I get an error signature window that opens

    AppName: wmplayer.exe AppVer:10.0.0.3802 ModName: soniclicensemanager.dll
    ModVer: 3.1.1.4 Offset: 000108fc

After that info it states to view technical information about the error report "click here" but when the report comes up I cannot copy any of the info nor can I find that file that it states the report is being saved in, which is listed as follows:
    C:\DOCUME~1\EARTH_~1\LOCALS~1\Temp\ee7d_appcompat.txt

Do I need to post a HJT report as well to provide enough info to get someone to respond to this?
