when I try to open an email with a pps attachment --I get a message --- " file does not have a program associated with it for performing this action create an association in the set association control panel " went to control panel --default programs--associate a file with a program-- pot-potm-potx-pps-ppsm-ppsx-ppt-pptm-pptx--are all there --the default for all of these is Microsoft office PowerPoint Viewer---dont know where to go from here
running Vista Premium--which is new to me

Thanks for the quick response---downloaded what you said --still wont open ---forgot yo tell you --I also have a Yahoo email and I can open the pps attachment in Yahoo ??????

Set the association if it is not set. Click the file, when it asks whether to use the web service, answer "No". Then choose the PowerPoint Viewer as the program to open it and check the box that says to always use the program.

can't find what you told me ---will try and give you more info ----went to control panel--default programs--associate a file type or protocol with a program--I clicked on pps --box comes up --open with---choose program you want to use to open this file --.pps
recommended programs ---Microsoft office PowerPoint Viewer----the box --always use this program to open this kind of file does no hilite so can not check the box --I hit ok --but no help---hope this will be of more help ????

Same to you. Glad you figured it out. I failed to notice that you were using Vista and was thinking XP myself. But the idea is similar.
