I recently received an attachment that I need to print, but there is some color in the attachment that I also need to print but when I try to print the attachment, the color does not print. This attachment is in a PDF format, and at first I thought that something was wrong with the PDF but now I think that the problem is with my printer. When I select print, there is a picture of what will print, and the color is not evident in the picture and so I believe that it is a setting in my printer's software. I am using an HP Officejet J4580 printer. When I try to print, I select "Color" but nothing is printed in color. Also, when I select "Greyscale" or "Black and White," nothing regarding the color portion of the attachment is printed. Because when I select "Print" nothing of the color part of the attachment is seen in the picture in the small box in which I can select "Print" I am guessing that the problem has something to do with my printer. Any and all suggestions regarding this matter will be gratefully welcome. And, thank you in advance to any and all replies.

What PDF reader are you using
I am having problems with Adobe reader and using any HP printer in printing some pdfs
The way I have dealt with it, is to open the PDF in Firefox using its inbuilt reader & print from there.
Using Adobe, I got missing images, poor text & lack of colour in some places.

FF seems to display & print correctly, especially printing forms with lots of text boxes & lines

To eliminate a printer having low colour ink levels. Can you print other colour text & images OK

dvk01, thanks again for your reply. I also am using Adobe to view the PDF. I am not sure what the problem is. I thought it might be the PDF or Adobe and then I thought it might be the printer software. When I click on File and then print, the image that is shown does not have the color portion showing and I am wondering what can cause this? The form in the PDF, clearly shows the red color, but in the image prior to pressing "Print," the red is missing. I checked and the drivers for the printer are the latest available. I am at a loss as to what might be causing the red color not to print or so show up in the image that will print after "Print" is chosen.

Try using Firefox, Chrome or Edge to open & display the pdf & see it is prints correctly then. I have found FF better than the others for me, but you might get different results. I need to use Adobe to fill in the forms first, save them on my computer & then open the pdf in FF

dvk01, that did the trick. I changed the default for PDFs from Adobe Reader to Edge, and the part of the form that is in color, printed in color. Thanks very much for your advise. I have been working on this problem all day and having it solved is fantastic. Thanks again and I want to with the very best of the New Year for you and yours.

Glad to help. Recent versions of Adobe Reader have been hopeless for printing. I don't know what they changed but alm ost nothing prints properly from Adobe Reader for me. Either in W8.1 or W10.
