    Hi Everyone,
When a friend of mine opens Word2000 he always has to click on the font button list in order to type a document. When he does this it takes about a minute and then everything works fine. You cant use word untikl you do this. He has a Compaq, Win98SE, And 64 MB of ram. I think it is not enough Ram but I need expert help!

Only take the steps until it's fixed.

First, have him clean up his hard drive with the following instructions: http://www.piersontech.com/07-CleanHardDrive.htm

Second, find the file(s) on the hard drive called normal.dot and rename to abnormal.dot.

Third, that's a registry fix you'll find if you search for "regedit" here in the Office forum, and make sure you find the one for Word (as I recall there aren't many others) or I'll post it again if you need it.

    Hope this helps.
