I found an earlier thread, dated 12-Nov-2006, 06:03 that has been closed, that asked about the same problem I have.

"I have a problem in that Word won't remember any changes to the setting I make to normal.dot If I change the font, layout etc it will remember those changes for any new documents I want to create whilst word remains open, but if I close and re-open the word application all the changes I have made, and applied as default, are lost?"

I tried the suggestions, it didn't solve the problem. Also I can't save macros.

    Can anyone help? Thanks!!!
