    Hello all!!!

I was wondering if you could tell me if there is a way to get rid of the list of documents that show on the right side when you open up word. It shows open a document, new document, new existing doc. etc.
I have 3 on the open a doc that I no longer have and would like to know if there is any way to get rid of it. The files have been deleted off the hard drive as well as the history list.
Your help would be appreciated thank you very much.

    Try Start-Settings-Taskbar and start menu.

    Click on Start menu tab.
    Hit Customize.
    Hit the "clear" button.

This clears all history files, tho, and not just documents.
They're just shortcuts so you should be able to safely delete them.

Nice to talk with you again. Sorry but that didn't work. Any other suggestions. Its right in Word itself. Its when you open a document and then it shows a list of documents. These are old ones and they are not on my puter as far as I know. I deleted them from the hard drive .

the only way I have found to do it is:

open word tools/options/general, change list recently opened docs to 0, press ok

    close word

re open word back to tools /options/general change list of recently opened docs to number yopu want to keep.

If what dvk01 says does not work, do this:

After hitting File-Open, and seeing the list of files, just right-click any that you don't want, and choose Delete. Or left click its file name and hit your delete key.

Hello again: Could you help me please:

When i go to install the office update for word 2002,Office XP Service pack 2 it shows that it is downloaded but when i go to install it and from the cd it won't let me. Error 1706.
Then it tells me to find word.msi in another folder which I can install microsoft word 2002., or check windows explorer under C:\Program files\Microsoft Office\Office10\1033\Setup.Hlp.

I did all that but couldn't find setup.hlp. Any suggestions?
