I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, but I have an issue with Word 2003.

I used to be able to press the edit button on a picture in Word and it would take the picture to Paint for editing.

Today I tried it but the button was greyed out so I could not select it. I also did some reasearch and found that you had to change the Picture editor options however when I used the pull down menu there was nothing there, other than the already selected Word.

Can anyone help get the edit option back so that it can either edit in picture manager or paint automatically by using the edit button in Word?

Thanks for reading.

Welcome to the forum.

Can you tell me what type of file you are editing? If it is a clipart file you will probably not be able to see that edit option, but you can ungroup it and manipulate the pieces that you want to.

Go to TOOLS\OPTIONS\EDITand choose PAINT as your picture editor. It may have gotten changed to WORD.

Thanks, it has gotten changed to Word however there are no options to change it back. Are you referring to the dropdown menu? There are no options apart from Word there.

According to Microsoft: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/211795 It is a registry issue BUT they don't say to add it yourself. If your editor was PhotoEd you can use your Office CD to install/reinstall it and that should register it.

If it was PAINT, use the procedure listed here http://support.microsoft.com/kb/218632/en-us to uninstall and reinstallPAINT[/B. Don't bother with the Wordpad stuff listed.

Let us know if that does the do.
