    Hi:

I have one problem and one slightly off-topic question.

The problem is a large vertical black arrow that shows both up and down "spears." It appears randomly in my text and takes over my scrolling. If anyone knows how to get rid of this thing, I'd be grateful for the help. I'm using Word 2007.

The question I have also relates to arrows, sort of. I would really, really like to have a bright red cursor that I can easily distinguish from the black and white of the page. It seems like such a common sense thing yet I've never come across one. Does anyone know if this is available?

    Many thanks,
    Jane

    Hi Jane,
    Do you have a screenshot?

With regards to your scrolling problem, if your mouse has a wheel and the wheel can be "clicked" like the left and right buttons, then clicking the wheel creates scroll arrows, and mouse movement generates vertical scrolling. Are you perhaps scrolling with the wheel and accidentally clicking with the wheel, too?

    Hi again:

I'll take a screenshot the next time it happens. I don't use a mouse. I use a touchpad.

Will be back when I have the screenshot.

    Many thanks to you both,
    Jane

Like @Abe999 mentioned, it is also possible to activate the scroll function by using both fingers on the touchpad

    Hi again,

I took a screenshot when the arrows appeared but they don't show up in it.

The best way I can describe them is two triangles, abutting each other flat so that one triangle points up and the other points down. They are heavy and dark compared to most pointers.

I'm running Word 2007. Don't recall this happening in Word 2003.

    Thanks for any help!

    Jane

I've attached a document with mouse scrolling triangles (arrows) drawn on it. Do yours look the same?

I think so. I'd forgotten about the dot in the center. Am not 100% convinced they're the same but, if not, they're very close.

If they are the same, then perhaps, as Keebellah has suggested, some sort of action on the touch pad is activating this scrolling feature. Otherwise, I'm at a loss as to what is causing the triangles you see. Sorry.
