    Hi,

I had the trial version of Microsoft Office 2003 and used Word for many documents. Now that my trial has run out I cannot edit any of the documents I created with Word. It says " This modification is not allowed because the document is locked." I know I did not lock them. Also I tried to copy and paste but that is locked too. So is it possible to edit these documents if I choose not to activate Word? Thank you!

What will you edit them with? Did you try using Wordpad? Also, Open Office will open Word docs, and it's free, but I can't promise everything will be exactly as it was in Word.

Thanks for the reply. I tried Wordpad but I can't copy and paste the documents into Wordpad to edit. But I will give the Openoffice a try. Thank you! :)

Thanks for your help. I right clicked the file and opened with wordpad and it worked. Thank you! :)
