I am working on a project which has a requirement of
creating forms which has certain areas that user can
edit.
Now,
I am using word XP. Can I create certain lockable areas
in the form? Is compatibility an issues with different
word versions?
My main concern is that the forms are going on web and
are to be downloaded by the user? Can we still maintain
the control? If not, what are my options?
Which version of Word are you using. Word 2003 or 2007?
I would suggest that you use the Help function and search for "Form Controls".
The Microsoft gives useful tips on various forms of "Form Controls" that might be suitable for your application.
You can lock down the form so only certain fields will be editable. You will want to right-click on a toolbar and select "Forms." Add all the form fields you like and then access "Tools">>"Protect Document" from the menu bar and proceed to protect the document and only allow form filling.
Ok thats great.. I will start working
on it.. Thanks heaps jim.
Also,
is there any compatibility issues of
this doc as in different versions of
word..?
I did not have any issue, but cannot attest to the older versions. I know forms have been around in MS Word for many, many versions.
