I set up a friend of mine with WP9 (legal) and PowerDesk Pro (a file shell). When he clicks on a file that is associated with word perfect, he keeps getting a message that says the file can't be opened. Other times, it will load the file..but wp9 will refuse to save it unless it's renamed. There are no other instances of the program or file running...and even when he closes powerdesk and opens the file with wp9 only...he gets the same behavior when he tries to save the file. Any ideas as to what's going on?

Whenever I run into problems with WP9 I usually just go to the Corel Knowledge Base, and it's proven to be somewhat helpful. Here's a link:

I'd recommend just entering "cannot save" and "cannot open" as your search. It should bring up a number of hits for you to follow. Also, remember that some suggestions for earlier versions, like wp7 or wp8, might also apply to WP9.

    Good Luck:)
