i would like to create a template for my school assignments. i need help with the date aspect however, what i would like is for when i start a new document with my template, for that day's date to be printed (i have tried a Word preset text Date, but the date continues to be dynamic even after i save the document), but when i save the document, for it to remain that days date, even when i open the document a month from then.

This one has driven me nuts *many* times, but I think I have it now, so thanks to you for asking.

In your *template*, use a CREATEDATE field (Insert -- Field), something like
    CREATEDATE \@ "dd/MM/yyyy"

Try it then test by tinkering with your system clock.

    No testing needed.

Especially if you're using a DOT file (a real template), and you generally send/mail your file the same day, then CreateDate is the best one.
