I desperately hope someone can help me. I have been using Wordperfect 12 for years and I enjoy the program, but this is the fourth time it has corrupted the Password on a pass protected file. I know the password, but when I enter it, it tries to tell me that that is not the correct password! This always seems to happen if I have the document open but unmodified when my computer crashes (most recently because of a power outage.)

I have tried repairing the document (WPLook says it can't because it's password protected.) I have tried opening it with Libreoffice, version 3.2.0 of openoffice and word (encryption makes just a bunch of symbols and letters that aren't coherent). I have tried finding backup copies that Wordperfect made (none exist). And I have emailed Corel since I have no other idea what to do.

Does Anyone know how I can retrieve the information in my password corrupted documents???

The only method is for Corel to send you a new activation key or to make any fixes from their side. We cannot help anyone in here for any passwords for any programs.

That is a known problem in all word processing programs. ( also applies to Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc)
The only way to avoid it, is never work on a password protected file. What you should do, every time you edit a file is unprotect it. do the editing & then when you are finished, create a new password for it

You will have to chalk this one up to experience and in the future remember backup, backup & backup.
