Wordperfect Spellcheck Issue

My daughter has encountered a problem with spellcheck the last few days. When she is about half way through checking her document, Wordperfect shuts down. This has never happened to me but I'm a little worried as I am about to start a 16 page newsletter which I usually spell check. Can anyone help us?

We are running WP 8.0.0225 and Windows 98 on.b a Compaq Presario. The error details are as follows:

something about a user word list needing to be replaced

and when creating a new document after having these sort of troubles, you may want to save frequently or even set the autosave quite low (does corel still have that feature?)

Thanks, JBCALG. I wasn't aware of the Corel KB.

I had tried to avoid it with frequent saves but that didn't work.

I6t was set to back up at 5 minute intervals. I have changed that to two.

I followed the instructions for renaming the file. However, the error continues. The default printer doesn't seem to be an issue.

hmmm, perhaps there's more at the Corel KB or even email the company tech support for other causes

hate to suggest or consider a uninstall, then reinstall at this point - always such a pain to get the software back to how you like it

click start, find files, loof for: WTLI80.DLL
right click and check the version or date created.

now go to Microsoft's website and go to downloads and look for that .dll file and see if they have lates version..if so..just cut paste to the folder where you got it from..

i thought the WTLI80.DLL was a corel dll, so not surprised it's not at MS site

it's likely on your corel cd but probably a pain to find it in one of the .cab files (the compressed files)

if you can't find it on your cd
(a quick email to tech support might help locate it if a file search on your cd comes up null)

ooops, opened my eyes and there it was on my google search page - this site has the dll, way at the bottom of the page, about 500 kb

caution: before you replace the (probably) bad dll - save a copy somewhere or rename it wtli80old.dll or something just in case

Sorry for the delay in getting back. I was away yesterday and navigating my way around a PC is for me - as you may have guessed - like riding in a tippy canoe.

As suggested, I downloaded version 8.0.0.308 and, after renaming the old file, placed it in the Corel Suite 8 Programs folder with the old file.

I loaded up WP and tested spellcheck only to find that now it doesn't work at all, the icon being greyed out on the tool bar.

Any thoughts?

Problem

Starting WordPerfect 8 gives the error WPWIN8 Cause an Invalid Page Fault (IPF) in Modual WTLI80.DLL

Answer:

Rename WTLI80.DLL this file is found in COREL\SUITE8\PROGRAMS. Then copy WTLI80.DLL from the Corel WordPerfect Suite CD the file is located in COREL\SUITE8\PROGRAMS. After coping the file over to the hard drive the file will need to be manually registered using the PFREG.EXE program, located in the \COREL\SUITE8 PROGRAMS folder. Double click on PFREG.EXE and after it has found all the components click on Unregister, wait until it says all components have been successfully unregistered. Next click on Register wait until all the components have been successfully registered. Close the Pfreg program.

I guess I'm inclined to live with this problem for now. It seems like the problem is with the particular file my daughter was running. Spellcheck doesn't seem to give me any trouble with any other file. However, I will keep your advice in case it crops up again.

it was an interesting exercise in (possibly) discovering one more arcane computer secret
