working partition asks for format

    hi
    from last two days, E drive shows that disk is full and tried for disk cleanup.
    today, it asks for do you want to format ? while i tried to access the E drive.

    will any one help , what shold i do ?

    data in the drive is very important & drive is in NTFS

    Try running chkdsk from the command window. Go to >start >run type in CMD and the black DOS window should appear. Type E:\ or CD E:\ and that should get you to the root of your E drive. then type chkdsk /r

    This will scan your hard drive for any errors and if possible fix them. If you can then access the E drive free some space up so you have a minimum of 10% free space then run a defrag.
