    WORKS SPREADSHEET QUESTION:
    :
I'm trying to figure out a way to use it to catalog my collection of 78 RPM records, but am stumped. Basically, I want to be able to sort them by record company, or title, or artist. each data field (think that's what its called -- I'm totally unfamiliar with spreadsheets) would contain, at minimum, something like this, but would have room to expand a field if needed to get more data into it re a disc or the performer(s).
    :
    DISC – 1

    TITLE: "Espagnol Waltz"
    Performed By: Samuel Siegel
    Instrument: Mandolin, with Piano accompaniment.
    Recorded: Probably May, 1903
    Company: Victor Talking Machine Company
    Label # 446
    Master / Take # If known: 446 / 3
Comments: Disc title is announced as: "Waltz Espagnol, Mandolin Solo by Mister Samuel Siegel".
    :
On some disc's, the master / take field may have 20 to 24 letters & numbers in it.
    :
But I cant get enough column width to type the info into A thru K. & have came to a stop.

to widen data fields in works

first click on column you wish to alter, then press format on top menu bar, scroll down to set column width and either select set column to width of widest text or other option and input number of characters.

It's probably easier to select number of characters , but does need you to work out before hand how wide you want it to be.

Repeat for any column you wish to resize

or with the mouse grab the right hand margin of the column you wish to resize and drag it along, this only works from the top grey panel which says A B C etc

However to catalog a record collection I would probably yse a works database instead as it already has templates for tape/record collections and alter as above

Have tried the Works template for CD/Tapes before & never could get the fields to allow enough room, or to allow me to put the 'A' & 'B' sides below each other along with the data fields I wanted.
    :
    Title - Artist - Name(s) of featured performers - Lable # - Master, and/or Take # -- Recording Date - Personell (if known) - Notes
    :
for each side -- tho' I do have several single-sided 78's -- would be required at least.

Gary, I've split your question out and made a new one. Please don't ask a new question inside someone else's.....but no harm done.
