I have a document in Works (processor) that I need to open in Word at work. If I save as .doc, it only opens with symbols. I cannot find any other options. Can you help?

Save your file from Works as a .wps file. Open this file with the Word program. You are supposed to be able to open these Works files in Word 2000 and upwards, if you have difficulty loading into Word there is a patch available from this link. Scroll down the page till you see an entry on wps files, read it then go to the downloads section (bottom of page).

P.S. You can also save your file as an .rtf from Works which is a highly compatible file format between different word processors and this should be read by Word.
