I recently downloaded Wormguard and although it does in fact detect worms I can't figure out how to get it to remove them. Maybe I have to buy it for any removal tool to work....hmmmm!

Anyhow, does anyone know of a reputable worm removal tool that can remove worms from my computer?

Any help would be appreciated...and thanks in advance.

Most anti-virus software should be able to detect and remove worms. Are you running an anti-virus?

Yes I have always run an antivirus. Am currently running AVG Antivirus however Wormguard tells me that most of my word documents are infected with worms.

My system does seem to run good. Except for the odd time when my desktop icons and taskbar totally disappear for about 10 seconds (the wallpaper remains) and then it all comes back.

I've run just about everything we recommend on here. Adaware, SpyBot, SpyBlaster....etc....

Another name for worms that infect Word documents is "Macro Virus". I found some references that might help.

The following link is to a PDF document that explains how to remove them manually:

http://www.dartmouth.edu/help/pdf/macrovirus.pdf

And the next link talks about macro viruses as well. It has a link to a shareware package called F-PROT which is suppose to help fix macro-viruses. I have not used F-PROT myself, so I can't really vouch for it.

There is a great program that the experts here recommend from time to time when all else fails. It's called TDS-3 and you can download the 30 day free trial version here :

http://tds.diamondcs.com.au/

I've used it and it's very good. Once you download it you have to download the update right away (it's called radius database update).

Hope this helps clean out your system.

Yes it is, Schnitzu. They have several good programs available there. I

have Wormguard also and it advises when a worm tries to get in and gives the option of allowing, quarantine, delete or do nothing. It's not able to remove worms after the fact, from what I understand.
