recently a couple of programs showed up on my computer. something called bit downloader and a program called cake inter.exe.

I think I deleted most of bit dowloader if not all. wich is good because t contained a TROJ generic.ADV and trend wouldn't remove it.

Cake however is still at large. I can't delete it because it is constantly in use. it is harmful though the risk is potentially low. I can, and do, however delete the files it creates. trend pops up with a message every 10 or so minutes saying it blocke this program for making changes to my settings. So I think it is attempting to do something I'm not going to like. Has anyone ran into this program before? or does anyone know how to delete a program that isn't shutdown?

Hmm sounds like a malware infection, lemme tell the malware removal group to move you to their section where they can clean you up.

Hi, Welcome to TSG!!

  • Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
  • Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
  • By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
  • Click on Install.
  • It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
  • Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
  • Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
  • Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
  • Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
  • DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.
