i was working on my other computer when suddenly my comp restarts,. i think top myself, 'thats quite odd' but think nothing of it. when it is starting again, after the windows loading screen pops up, it restarts again.....and again and again etc. its still doing it now actually.
on one special occasion there was an error before it rebooted that read "the procedure entrypoint CharUpperBuffA could nt be located in the dynamic library USER32.dll"
anyone know what on earth to do?

What Operating System are you running?
Have you tried a Hard Reboot, turn the power off, wait a minute then back on??

But if your computer keeps restarting when it gets to the login screen then how did you get onto the internet and into the techguy forums?

    LOL Now that's funny!

Can you get into Safe Mode? If so use msconfig to disable as the various programs in the startup group and then boot into Windows.

If you are OK something in that group is causing the problem.

That error message sounds like a program trying to start cannot find code it needs. Possibly you have a mismatch and have installed hardware or software which is incompatible with XP.

What changes have you made right before this started happening?

I do get it. Read the link. You do not do the overinstall from Safe mode or windows. You boot with the CD.

Which File system are you using?

i think ntfs if im not mistaken
does overinstalling take up double the memory? like putting xp on and another xp, or does it just go,.... over it?

It is supposed to repair the Operating system. It's something to try when you have no other option. If it doesn't work, you might have to look at a Hardware Issue.
