First look for it under Start - Settings - Apps and see if it's listed there to be uninstalled.

In the first screenshots I asked for there are entries that should not be removed as they don't pertain to this software at all so be careful.
Neither 'wps' or 'kingsoft' appear under Start>Settings>Apps. Thanks

I haven't sifted through all the results but feel free to advise how to proceed because I'm out of ideas at this point.

I assume we are in different countries. It's bedtime for me. Thanks Cookiegal and all who have contributed. I hope for a solution tomorrow. Thanks

There is a simple way to fix it. If possible system restore to a point before the installation of WPS ( after taking a proper backup). WPS was nice software. I had no idea they changed to what I am hearing about it in this topic.

I never thought so......but now it's even worse with all the adds in the free version.

Very good idea.
Thanks. I did set a system restore point immediately before downloading WPS but it no longer shows up, even after I tick the box to 'show more restore points'. I tried, among other things, this before I came to this site.
I found this on Google.

Although this worked with Word, I cannot solve it with Excel. I click 'other Apps' but Excel does not show up. Microsoft Office does - but that still does not let me get to Excel. Your further advice will be much appreciated

There are many with only wps and those wouldn't come up if we narrowed the search. Some won't really be necessary to delete. We can start with a basic regfix that will remove many of the entries and then see what's left.

I'm attaching a RegFix.zip file. Please unzip it (extract the contents) and double-click the RegFix.reg file to run it. Allow it through UAC if prompted and allow it to merge with the registry.

Delete these folders:

C:\Users\ray\AppData\Roaming\Kingsoft

C:\Users\ray\AppData\Local\Kingsoft

C:\Users\ray\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\WPS Office

Reboot and then run SystemLook again with the same script and attach the results.
I'm sorry, I did not see this yesterday.

I have deleted the Kingsoft files but the file

'C:\Users\ray\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\WPS Office'

does not show up. I did not do Systemlook again. I will wait for further guidance. Thanks

Did you run the registry fix as well?

Assuming you did run the previous registry fix, please run SystemLook again with the following script and attach the results:

Code:
:regfind
WPS Office
Kingsoft
:filefind
*wps*
*Kingsoft*
:folderfind
*wps*
*Kingsoft*
:service
wps
kingsoft

I did run the fix and attach systemlockkingsoft (today's version). Thank you.

Can you search for Excel in the taskbar search box and tell us what result it is showing ?

Also, try whether you can launch Excel through Start Button > Start Menu > Office > Excel ( or whatever the path is )
In taskbar, I get Microsoft Excel on left side with options to open, run as administrator, unpin from start, pin to taskbar etc. I will post again after launching through start button etc.

I'm probably misinterpreting this. From Start Excel appears under MS Office. I'm simply taken into a blank spreadsheet - Book 1 Microsoft Excel. Non commercial use.

I should have said " options to open, run as administrator, unpin from start, pin to taskbar etc." show on right of screen. Apologies!

Right. So there is an Excel representation. Why it is not showing up on your list when Word does ? Can you post a full-screen screenshot when you cannot find Excel to open with ? I guess that option there but not visible easily considering Excel shows up instantly on search box and Start menu.
