I just need to find out how "flash" or to set my Belkin F5D8236-4 v2 router back to its factory firmware settings so I can install the correct firmware. It currently has firmware version 2.01.03 installed, which is for a slightly different model, and it's supposed to have version 2.00.04.

I assume when you try to load the correct firmware it fails? Is the router being problematic, if not I'd just leave it, it may be compatible jsut never approved for the V2.

Otherwise an easy method might be to use a DD-WRT revert to factory modified firmware, found one here in this thread in LOM's post but you have to register to get it. http://www.dd-wrt.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?p=521053#521053

Found a mirror here: https://andrewpeng.net/gadgets/belkin-f5d8235-4-v2/dd-wrt-on-belkin-f5d8235-4-v2

Use at your own risk, this could go very wrong and brick your router.
