It seems like just yesterday that we moved from vBulletin to XenForo, but it was actually 3 years ago! We're currently running XenForo 1.5. They're still releasing updates for it. In fact, I just received an email this morning about a new version 1.5.23. However, they have been building a new major release 2.x in parallel and are now up to 2.0.12. They've now officially announced that they're going to "end of life" version 1.5:

So, within the next year, we're going to be upgrading TSG to the the XenForo 2 track. It's not nearly as big of a change as when we switched from vBulletin, but some things will be moved around and some new features will be available. Here's a preview of some of the major differences when 2.x was announced last year:

The biggest issue for us is that we've got a ton of custom code and add-ons that have been built specifically for XF1 and simply won't work in XF2. We'll have to rewrite a lot of code -- much of which is outside of my abilities and will cost money. The good news is that some of the code we currently have won't be necessary in the new version as those features already exist without an add-on.

My current plan is to create a beta version of the site on another server, do a test migration to XF2 without our custom add-ons, and then start going through each one to see if we can eliminate or reproduce those functions. If you're interested in participating in the beta, please let me know. I probably won't be working on this in earnest until after the holidays and the beta likely won't be available for a few months, but feel free to send me a message with your interest and I'll get back to you when it's ready for some testing. Thanks! :)

Great news, as everything needs to be updated from time to time.

Yes, count me in, in any way I can help.

Of course it goes without saying that I'll put it through its paces but I already don't like the round avatars. :)

I wonder if it is an option. Looking at several of the screen shots in the link, they are square.

Personally, I prefer elliptical if you can. :D

They're definitely doing it with CSS, so even if it's not a checkbox option, it'd be easy to change. ;)

Each user can change or just the Admin's for everyone?

I suspect admin. I doubt that's an option that each user would be able to change.

I wouldn't want users to have the option to change it themselves. I think it's something that should be uniform for everyone.

They just need to be big enough to be seen like the ones we have here.
