XLS files are created by Microsoft Excel. If you do not have Excel or Microsoft works spredsheet then opening them cannot be done. You may wish to contact the sendor, or have a friend open the file and save as a .txt with tabs file. This way you will be able to open the file using notepad. Using this method you will not have the bold and italics showing nor will you have the individual data box outlines visable however all the data will be in proper placement under the correct headings.

    Hope that helps.

    option 3

do you have lotus or some other spreadsheet software?
if they are fairly current, they may have a converter that will open .xls files (depending on the excel version)
