When an XP home pc is restarted or shutdown and rebooted, it always asks whether you want to start up in safe mode. This is after normal shutdown and nothing unusual is happening. PC starts normally and runs normally in every other sense, this is just more of an annoyance.

    Hi,
i had this trouble (asked f i waned safe mode, windows xp, or recovery consol  )
I found a way to fix it by going into msconfig, and click on the second tab, and check tohe boot drive. My comp said "recovery consol, and safe mode refer to files added to the boot by accident, do u wish to remove them" (or somethink similar) removed them and loaded fine.

Personally if u can live with it, and ignore it the best u can, then i would.

    Hope this helps,
    Marv
