Yeah, I found it on one of my home PCs a couple of weeks ago. Not how I wanted to spend my Saturday.

It's a tricky bugger, unsure how the computer got it as it was on a public computer and public network at work. It just plain ol' hijacked the browser.

Yep.Thank goodness I had another pc so I could search on it.Had to go into safe mode, download malwarebytes and superantispyware.Malwarebytes found and removed the corruption.

Good deal, this computer I had the problem with already had MBAM on it, but from safe mode it didn't work... guess MBAM wasn't too up to date. I was able to get into Task Manager while in normal mode and stopped some very strangely named processes from running and when the rogue icon in the tool-bar disappeared, I could access the net with IE and update MBAM. Ran MBAM again and it took it out, along with a bunch of "MYWEBSEARCH" entries.....

Re-ran MBAM again and the computer was clean.

I'm closing this because we don't want users to try to fix infections on their own. Even if you feel capable others may follow and think they're clean when they're not. This forum is not for this type of discussion. It's for discussing anti-virus programs and things of a general nature. :)
