Is this a registered copy of XP? Is it a manufacturers disc?
I am just curious how you ended up with an incomplete install...

Try changing the Boot Sequence in BIOS, and boot the computer without OS CD in the CDROM Drive. Boot Order: 1-HDD: 2-Floppy; 3-CDROM Drive
