XP compatibility test

    I use Windows 98 2nd. Edition and intend to switch to XP.
    I want to have the two systems, Windows 98 in my C: disk and XP in D:
    When I ran the compatibility test included in the CDRom I got after a
    while the following Error Message: Installation Program cannot continue.
    Error: 685FF58h

    Could anybody help me, please?

    Sounds like it started the installation. Have you tried rebooting to see how it responds yet ? Did you get the results from the scan ? If not then do a scan Here .

    Thank you Charlie.
    I got the error a few seconds after begining the scan.
    After the error message I accept, clic Exit and Kernel 32 hangs the system.
    I repeated the experience several times, with exactly the same result

    So you are not able to boot 98 the way you were before ?

    Yes, I can continue using Windows 98 normally.

    I ran the other test suggested, but I got data only on recommended and bare minimum settings. The "you have" column was empty (I have a capture of the screen but donĀ“t know how to attach it)
    I remark that I use the spanish version of W98 and XP
