    Hello, guys.

3 days ago, I noticed that my Windows XP Home Edition SP2 does not log off or shutdown.

Explorer taskbar or icons are gone, like any shutdown, but the machine 100% of time gets stuck. There is only the wallpaper and the cursor, which is still active. So I'm not getting to the "Windows is shutting down" screen, the laptop does not get to any of the log off or shutdown blue screens.

I have tried safe mode, the problem is the same.

Also, I can't do System Restore because the operating system does not shutdown or restart. I have to turn it off by the power button. When I turn the laptop back on, the System Restore fails.

Anyway, the Network Connections service does not start. It gives me Error 193: 0xc1. I have been told to use RegSvr32 to register netshell32.dll and others.

When I do that, I get "netshell.dll was loaded, but the DllRegisterServer entry was not found. The file can not be registered."

To add to those problems, the wireless network icon is gone from the taskbar. I think this is connected to Network Connections. Ipconfig does not start, with "The application failed to initialize properly (0xc000007b). Click on OK to terminate the application."

I know I've got a plethora of problems, but the strange thing is sometimes the internet works, like now, but sometimes it does not.

I have checked for viruses with avast! Home Edition, nothing was found.

These problems are really setting me back. I have modified netshell.dll for to change icons a few days ago, I think this is connected to that.

Thanks in advance for all the help.

Stats: Windows XP Home Edition, 2GB RAM, Intel Pentium M Processor 1.73 ghz.
