I just recently reformatted my hard drive from 98 and fresh installed XP on it. Now it freezes quite often, I tried burning a CD and it froze halfways through, I come back from class and my computer is frozen in sleep, whenever I try to convert one of my cds to MP3 it freezes, it has also done it several times while talking on messenger. I just reformatted two days ago and installed many of my programs and it has probably froze up 15 times. If anyone knows what's going on please let me know.

Some things to try;
Boot into safe mode and let it run for a while. If it still freezes in safe mode, that points at a hardware problem. If it runs normally in safe mode, you have a software / driver problem. Post back with results and we will know what to further investigate.
NT based os are more demanding of memory than win9x. I would download and run a memory tester. Here is a link.
