    Hi,

Hopefully someone will be able to help me because Im running out of ideas.....

I have a Dell computer (5 years old) running WXP SP2.
It was freezing and rebooting and generally running really slowly.

I have patched XP, updated Spybot and Adaware, updated Avast and firewall is activated.
The spyware apps picked up a few things in safe mode, that were promptly deleted.
Antivirus was clean. A Hijackthis! log was clear of anything suspicious.
I have also cleaned up and defragged the Hard Drive (40G).

After the cleanup the system seemed to be working better and was certainly faster.

However after 24 hours to trouble-free computing, the freezing started to re-occur and after rebooting I get a BSOD. The freezing occurs before going on the net - tends to be when just browsing/accessing files.

On the first Blue screen the error message to MS said:

    " files included in this report C:\ Docume 1\ john\locals 1\ temp\wer 26 b8 Dir\ 00 mini 072102.02 dmp
    C:\ Docume 1\ john\locals 1\ temp\wer 26 b8 Dir\ 00sysdat.xml

I've had a few reboots and freezing occurences since this. This morning was the first memory dump (that is what appears) for a while.
The blue screen said " Page fault in non paged area"
The error signature from Microsoft report was as follows:-

    BC code : 50 BCP1 : 80000000 BCP2 00000000 BCP3 8058B893 BCPL 00000000

    O.S. VER 5_1_2600 SP2_0 Product 256.1

Files included in the Microsoft error report
    C:\docume~\john\locals~\temp|we re4 e3_dir00\mini 072406-01 dmp

    " " " " " \ sys data,xml

Im thinking a hardware error, but don't want to buy another stick of RAM if this is not going to solve the problem. Is virtual memory at fault?

Any help with this would be appreciated.

    Thanks
