New Power Spec 8610 with virtually nothing on it except XP. Installed new Brother laser printer software, plus WordPerfect Office Suite 2000. Periodically, XP hangs up on the "Power Spec" screen while booting up; other times, it flies right by that screen. Seems it hangs after the pc and power have been turned off for extended periods, such as overnight, or over the weekend. Vendor support suggested restoring the original software. Did that; then, reinstalled the printer and WP again. It still does it. Could it be that I don't need to install the software that came with the printer? Grasping at straws here.........

Has anyone else experienced similar situations with XP? If so, how did you resolve it. It doesn't affect anything except the boot-up; but, it's a pain to have to turn the power off and start over.
