    Hi,

I have about 18 gb of mp3 files stored in DOCUMENTS AND SETTING -> ALL USERS -> SHARED DOCUMENTS ->MUSIC.

I have these files backed up on another computer. I want to delete all of these files from my computer, but I keep getting "Access Denied" messages when I try to delete them.

Here is what I have figured out or tried so far...

    1. The files are not in use.
    2. The files are usable.
    3. I cannot change the file attributes such as "read only"
    4. I tried deleting them logged on under my account which has administrator privledges.
    5. I tried deleting them while while logged on as Administrator through "safe mode"
    6. I have tried deleting them from a command prompt accessed through STAR->RUN

In all cases I get a message that access is denied.

How do I delete these files?

Thank you for any help you can provide.

    -Glenn

    The instructions read....

    1. Right-click the folder that you want to take ownership of, and then click Properties.
    2. Click the Security tab, and then click OK on the Security message (if one appears).

I don't have a "Security" tab when I right click properies. Is this because it is XP HOME?

    Now what?

    Thanks,
    Glenn

Go back and read all the directions. It tells you what to do if you have Home Edition, or if the tab is not visible in Properties.

In Home you must be in Safe Mode.

In both, you need to go to Control Panel, Folder Options and disable Simple File Sharing.
