Question: If someone does not have a phone or access to the internet. what happens when the time limit for activating xp home runs out. If reinstalled will it wipe out other software/files on the hard drive???????? what can be done in this instance??

windows 2000 not an option unless truly necessary

    Hi There!

The first step would be to have them go to a Pay-Phone and call Microsoft at the 800 number on the WPA page.

Provided that they have a LEGAL copy of WinXP, then the kind folks at Microsoft will assist them.

Make sure they have their Certificate of Authenticity and the product code available.

And the point of all these oddball questions would be? I suspect where you live, there is a telephone, you seem to have no trouble getting to the Internet.
