Well I have a question about this myself. I just got a laptop running XP home & my pc also runs XP home. I want to put a lot of date files on it, & some of them won't fit on a CD. Is there any way to conntect & send them with a USB cable? If not, any inexpensive solutions would be great! Thanks a lot! :D

USB-USB can be hard to do, and I'm not sure it's even possible with XP Home.

The easiest way by far is to do it through a router. If you have both computers connected to one, then they should 'see' each other in network places, as long as they are both in the same domain....either MSHOME or WORKGROUP.

You can get USB data transfer cables, they are not cheap usually.

However a simple "crossover" type ethernet cable is easiest, to network the two PCs.

The laptop is almost certain to have a network port, if the desktop does not then an internal card is cheap. XP home is very straightforward to network, just follow the netwrork connection Wizard.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I guess I just need to get a network card for my PC. My laptop already has one, so I think this would just be the easiest way. Thanks again for your suggestions!
