Xp Limited Or No Connectivity Loosing Connection Every Few Min

    I have replaced the cable , weird thing all the lights on the modem works like i have connection , and also when i unplugged the phone from modem the lights still works dont know if that say anything for u. Ok ill try it with another pc.

    It's the signal from the ISP not getting to the modem. Contact them. If they say nothing's wrong then either the modem is bad or they are lying.

    A defective Ethernet cable would not give you the 192.168.100.x number, again its an IP address that the modem gives when it does not lock in the signals.

    If you want to try TN, providing your cable modem is not a wireless modem disconnect the coax and do release/renew and see what you get ;)

    Exactly what Couriant has been telling us! :) When there is no communication between ISP and the modem the modem will assign to the computer (or router) connected to it IP 192.168.100.10, Gateway 192.168.100.1 so that the computer can communicate with the modem.

    Thanks for that, Couriant. I had been idly curious about why I could communicate with my modem when I did not have internet access but never bothered to look into it. Now I don't have to wonder any more. :)

    another weird thing when i lost connection and i disconnect the coax cable i cant renew the ip. Anyways gonna call my ISP lets see what they say.

    Since your modem is not a DHCP server, it would not give you any IPs when you renew IP other than the 192.168.100.1, though it's weird that it didn't do that when you disconnected the coax... perhaps thats something with the ubee.
