I have been having problems getting some users the ability to access files on my xp machine. I recently activated my guest account to log in over the network. Would this allow them to get in to my XP machine? One of them is running ME and the other 2 are running 95. Also would I have to set them up with permissions on the folders that I want them to have access to or is there a defaultsetting that takes over as soon as it is activated? Thank you for the help.

If you establish a user account on the XP machine with the same name and password as they use to log into the W9x machines, they'll be able to access any files and folders that you give that user permission to access. You'll have to be more specific as to what access you want to grant, the guest account just opens the door to everything, and is considered a significant security risk.

Thank you for the response. I have tried that but when they try to access the XP machine it says that there is a fault and that they have no assigned perrmissions. Should I poosibley add them individualy instead of the users group?
