    Hi,

I am trying to install XP x64 edition on my IBM X24, but the warning says that "the version of Windows cannot be installed on the machine." My current OS is XP Professional version 2002 with SP 2. I tried to boot the computer with XP x64 on CD-ROM through BIOS, but the process was just skipped, and the computer started normally on the current OS. Can anyone help me figure this out? Is there any way to install XP x64 version on my IBM laptop?

Thank you for your help in advance.

Does that model have a 64 bit processor? If not, which I doubt, you can not install a 64 bit OS on a 32 bit processor.

Thanks for your reply. I don't know which type of processor the model has, although I looked at the device information on Device Manager--all I learned is it has an Intel P-III 1.13 GHZ processor. ONE Quick question: Can I install Vista on the model whose processor is 32 bit? Thanks so much in advance!

You have a 32 bit processor and on that machine Vista is going to be a horrible experience.
