xp pro will not shut down.

    Does anyone know how to get xp pro to shut down without rebooting? I have tried everything. Am running a p-4. with rdram and a tdk burner, dvd-rom, usb scanner. g-force 2 video. nothing fancy.

    Try this. START / Run / type: chkdsk /r click OK and When the dos box pops up type: Y and hit enter. When you reboot it will run a chkdsk /r and should take care of it.
