Hi,
I recently got a new Laptop that came with XP home SP2 preloaded. I bought the Pro upgrade, but had many errors during the upgrade. After continuing through the errors, Pro finally was installed, but there have been problems. Windows Update did not work, but that was resolved by some registry entries.
Now, WMI will not run. When I start MSConfig32, I get the message "Failed to connect to <local computer> because "Interface: Class not registered"
When I look at all the SERVICES, there is _NO_ WMI listed (there is an entry for WMI Driver Extensions, is that the same thing?).
I suspect there is either missing key(s) or data value(s) in the registry, as that was the problem when Windows Update didn't work, but I have been unable to find any useful info on this on in the MS KB. BTW, I have registered the three XML dll's (that was mentioned somewhere, so I did it, with no change in results).
Thanx for ANY help,
Mike
