For the last few days I have had three problems with XP, one leading to the discovery of the others. Is it possible all three are connected?

Firstly Xp will not shut down, it gets as far as Windows is shutting down screen and freezes.

Trying to do a system restore to get round the problem, nothing happens. Restore will not work.

Looking in the Event log I found "The device, \Device\Harddisk0\D, has a bad block."

Nothing has been added or removed from the system, no changes were made. Any help or advice would be most welcome.

    Regards....CC

Ran chkdsk and no faults were reported.

Is it possible the three could be connected?
