    I am having some troubles with my Windows XP media center edition laptop.
    First I had some malware issues but those have been properly fixed within this same site and everything is well but it turns out that some of the 'symptoms' were not malware related.
    The thing is that when I try to put my computer in standby mode it crashes (Blue screen message at the bottom) and reboots.
    Also the update KB2742597 will not install, it starts but fails every time. I have rebooted my laptop tried to install it when shutting down, when on but it never does.
    Today I turned it on and said my system recovered from a serious error but I had not seen any errors. the log is below as well and when I try to send it a website says that it was corrupted

    I cannot say when the standby problem started because I don't use it so often so I am not sure if I installed anything that may have caused it (I have had NO new hardware for a while).

    Thank you and I look forward to hearing from you and I hope this can help to see what is happening,

    Two obvious things to try:

    Run a sfc, if not fixed;
    Do a 'repair' install.
