I am about to reinstall xp home. After a year or so my system needs a good spring clean. I have my (legal) copy of xp Home at hand and i have the driver disks. I also plan to partition the drive.

However, I would like to backup my updated drivers and documents, emails etc to cd-r and i am looking for a good free piece of software to do this for me.

Any help in this frightening task would be much appreciated

    Cheers !

The XP Files and Settings Transfer Wizard does a good job of saving all files, most settings but not passwords or drivers. You can find it by clicking Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools.

You can run it and save the file it creates for importing back once you reinstall XP.

Unless you had previously saved downloaded drivers to a separate folder, I dont know a handy way to archive them. What I usually do is to download the network and video drivers prior to reinstalling XP so that I can be sure to connect to the internet and download current drivers for the devices XP does not have ( which are not very many frankly)

Good Luck . . Hope this helps . . wrs
