When trying to use the spreadsheet on MS Works, the computer shuts off and restarts. I used the restore disk and restored it back to the original software etc. but it still does this. Compaq tech support said the BIOS needed updated. This was done but it is still shutting down and restarting.

Don't know where to go next.

With a BIOS update it sets everything back to default settings so chances are you are going to have to find the part that deals with Ram and set it so RAM speed is auto (PC Managed) cause if it is set to a certain speed ie 400Mhz and it require a spike just above that amoutn then reboots will happen

    Hmm.
    Wats your computers specs?
    When did this start happening?
Compaq tech support told u 2 update your bios, did they tell u the risk of doing so?

Have u got all the updates for MS Works? If not, then try downloading them, they probably will be able 2 hlp, as some are made to imporove stability.
