I am going to build a new computer to replace an old computer. The new one will be Win.7 64 bit and the older one is XP 32 bit. Now my question is will I be able to transfer Documents and other things from the XP to the 7?

You can transfer anything you want except installed programs. Just send them over the network or copy to DVD or a USB humb drive and copy them where you want them on the new machine.

But if the docs were created by a particular program, like Word or Works word-processor, you will also need those programs to open the docs in their native formats.

But...if you need to ask a question like that, do you think you are really up to building a computer? Do you know how they work? Do you undertstand how the various components connect together and operate? If you need help, be sure to get it before you end up burning out expensive parts.

I am very sorry for the double post. It was not intentional. I had posted and when I checked back I couldn't find it. So I posted again. This will be my third build. But I haven't had any experience with Win.7. Thank you for the help.
