xp wont shut down..i messed up my settings help

    I had a the ms blast worm...and it was shutting down my pc ...i went into the settings on windows @someone told me to do [email protected] therefore when i click the shut down or restart it does nothing... i have to press the on/off button on the power supply...any help would be appriciated as windows does not like this???

    Go to power options in control panel and click on the advanced tab and see what exactly the dropdown menu has for the shutdown button.

    In XP, when a program running won't shutdown when XP is shutting down, XP appears to be doing nothing...but, if you wait, sometimes as long as 2 minutes, XP will throw up a box that says basically that it's waiting for this program to end.... Are you sure you are completely cleaned of that worm?? Are you waiting long enough before hitting the PWR switch?
